Step # | Action |
| One of the most essential requirements for recording a Zoom meeting is to be in one. With that in mind, fire up your Zoom app and start a meeting or join a Zoom call. |
| When you find yourself in the meeting, there are two ways you can go about recording it. The first method would involve finding the meatball menu–the menu with three dots horizontally aligned as shown below–and clicking on it. |
| Upon clicking this menu, a list will come up. Look for the option that says, “Record on this computer,” and click on it. |
| Right after you click on this option, Zoom will begin recording the meeting that you’re in. |
| The other option you have to record a Zoom meeting would involve using the “Record” button, which you can find pictured below. Hover your cursor over the button and click on it. |
| Much like with the other method, Zoom will start recording your meeting as soon as you click on the button. |
| To help you know that you’re recording, Zoom will also play an audio prompt that will say, “Recording in progress.” |
| Aside from the voice prompt, an on-screen indicator (pictured below) will also appear on the call window, showing you that there is an ongoing recording. |
| When the recording begins, “Pause” and “Stop” buttons will appear, taking the place of the Record button. (You can see this below) If you click on the Pause button (left), Zoom will stop the recording temporarily and allow you to resume it after you click on it again. Clicking on the Stop button (right) will halt your recording entirely and end it. |
| When your call ends, the Zoom program will process the recording and make it into a video file that you can view. When the processing is done, a window will open and show you the folder containing the recording. |
| Congratulations! You’ve learned how to record a Zoom meeting from your Macbook! |
